Sign In Client

When clicking the Email and Calendaring Icon in the Sign In Client Outlook is passed the Online Outlook Profile created for the user you are currently logged into the Sign In Client (i.e. user@contoso.com ).  This provides you with the ability to always use the correct Online Outlook Profile when launching from the Sign In Client. 

However if you want to connect to a different Messaging Environment, assuming you have different Outlook Profiles for example an internal On-Premise Company Mail Server, you will want to launch Outlook outside the Sign In Client:

  • Start --> Programs --> Microsoft Office --> Outlook

When launching Outlook outside of the Microsoft Online Sign In Client, your Control Panel --> Mail settings are taken into account (i.e. Prompt for Profile, Default Profile, etc.).

The above information is provided for when you have an On-Premise Exchange Messaging Server and want to also use the Microsoft Online Exchange Messaging environment -
