Microsoft Online Networking

The Microsoft Online Services require certain ports and protocols to be opened in a customer's network environment before the Online Services can be used.  These services include:

  • Single Sign In Services - Port 443 over HTTPS
  • Microsoft SharePoint Online Services - Port 443 over HTTPS
  • Microsoft Exchange Online Services - Port 443 using RPC/ HTTPS using Cached Mode
  • Microsoft Online Admin Center (MOAC) - Port 443 over HTTPS
  • Microsoft Online Company Portal - Port 443 over HTTPS
  • Microsoft Online Directory Migration -   Port 443 over HTTPS
  • Microsoft Live Meeting
    • Microsoft Office Live Meeting uses TCP/TLS ports that are in the range of 8000 to 8100.  If Live Meeting is unable to connect to ports that are in this range, Live Meeting uses the standard HTTPS port 443, if this port is available and if not falls back to a port 80 HTTP request to make a Console connection.
    • Live Meeting uses http port 80 to negotiate Internet Audio Broadcasting (IAB) connections
    • Live Meeting uses TCP/UDP port 554 for Real-Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) connections
    • Live Meeting uses TCP/UPD port 1755 for Microsoft Media Services (MMS) connections
  • Microsoft Online Communications (Office Communications Server - Instant Messaging) - This service will be released 3-6 months after the launch of the Microsoft Online Service and will provide Instant Messaging connectivity for Office Communicator.  The ports used are TCP/TLS 5061
