Field, Here I Come!

Now and again, a colleague or customer points to my blog, having run into one of the issues I've described in a post. It's at these times that I remember I have a blog! My last post was over two years ago, but I won't make any excuses for not posting and will get right back into it.

I have moved into a new role at Microsoft, as a Premier Field Engineer and will be responsible for delivering workshops, health checks, deployments and onsite support to Microsoft's Premier Customers in India. This role takes me away from the world of troubleshooting I've known for the last 8 years and, clichéd as it may sound, shows me the bigger picture from conceptualization to design and then implementation and finally maintenance.

The theme of my blog so far has been troubleshooting issues and while I will post a weird and undocumented-anywhere-else issue that I've resolved every once in a while, the majority will deal with new features in Windows, configuring those features, tuning them if required and the like.

My areas of expertise are Failover Clustering and Virtualization using Hyper-V, however, I look forward to dabbling in capacity planning, performance tuning and deployment.

With that said, I'm going back to hit the (e)books and will have something up here soon. I promise!
