I want to take a moment to thank you all for your contribution to a fantastic 2014 and wish you a safe and happy holidays with your friends and families. In the last 6 months we have run events in NZ that have been attended by 7,700 people! TechEd was once again a highlight for our team, moving the opening keynote to Vector Arena and reaching the greatest number of attendees since the event started in NZ 19 years ago. For those that didn’t attend we have hundreds of sessions from the event available for you to watch online.

Recently we also launched the Australian Azure Datacentres with great support for NZ companies moving their workloads to the cloud. I am personally excited to see New Zealand Cricket join the All Blacks in migrating to Azure in preparation of next year’s world cup events. In addition to this New Zealand customers are going to benefit from Office 365 and Dynamics CRM Online being delivered from Australian datacentres. With the reduction in latency I encourage you to once again look at Azure as a potential to scale out your local infrastructure. We have free training to get you started.

I am also really proud of the work that the team and our customers and partners are doing to support our IT students to get relevant work experience before they finish their studies. A real highlight for me this year was to see Team Estimeet (a team that was formed during our summer student programme) win the Innovation Category in the 2014 Microsoft Imagine Cup. I am also encouraged to see last year’s national winners commercialise their idea. The tech Start-Up space in New Zealand is continuing to break ground and we have updated our App Showcase booklet to reflect some of this innovative work. It isn’t just the start-up space where innovation is happening, Datacom has worked with Microsoft to help Zespri become the world’s largest SAP workload to run on Azure.

As we sign out 2014 I want to once again thank you for your support and hope to see many of you again in 2015 recharged and ready to go!
