As IT Professionals our organisations rely on us to be the “go-to” resource when it comes to new operating systems, technologies, or trends. When we’re not using these technologies day to day it presents a problem: how do I keep current?

The traditional way is to attend a course provided by a Certified Partner for Learning Solutions –e.g. Ace Training or Auldhouse – is an excellent way to get in-depth knowledge, especially when studying to pass a Microsoft Certification.

You can come along to one of our free, instructor-led, IT Camps where you can get hands-on with the new technologies such as Windows 8.1, Microsoft Intune, or Microsoft Azure.

For the DIY’er, there is also the option to fire up a virtual machine running Windows Server, SharePoint, SQL Server, or even Linux on Microsoft Azure. Sign up for a free trial, or activate the free Azure credits included in your BizSpark, MSDN or Microsoft Partner (MPN) program subscriptions.

There is also a resource that is available to you 24×7, is constantly updated and added to, and boasts a huge catalogue including topics such as Hybrid Cloud, Windows 8.1, Windows Server, and Virtualization. This resource is called Microsoft Virtual Academy (MVA) and it is the premier source for Free Online Learning. With MVA you can do more than just access training material. You can also create a personalised Learning Plan and track your progress. Not only is this a great tool for yourself – it also makes for a great record to show your employer when you come up for your next review! In addition to interacting with the courses on the website, you can also download both video and presentation material so you can take it with you and watch on your big screen at home, or on the airplane during your next trip.

There are a lot of courses available to you on Microsoft Virtual Academy, but here are a few examples to get you started:

Happy learning!
