Last week Microsoft announced the next version of Windows – Windows 10! If you’re like me, your first question will probably be “where can I get it?” Well, I have some great news! Anyone can join the Windows Insider Program and get access to the Technical Preview. With the Windows Insider Program you’ll also get an easy-to-use app for submitting feedback, and access to updates and newer preview builds along the way. If you have an MSDN subscription, then you can also access the Windows 10 Technical Preview for Enterprise from your subscriber downloads.

Also announced was new information on the next version of Windows Server and System Center, the core of our Cloud OS vision. For all the details, head over to the Server & Cloud blog.

So how do we plan ahead for a Windows 10 deployment in the enterprise? One of the best ways to prepare is to start deploying Windows 8.1 Enterprise in your organisation now! With Windows 8.1 you get the best experience across all your devices – from the new touch screen tablets, to your desktop workhorse. The refined user experience brings improvements for mouse and keyboard users, without compromising the usability for touch-based users. Windows 8.1 is also more manageable than ever with deeper policy management through tools like Windows Intune and System Center, and support for Open MDM allowing management via tools such as Mobile Iron or Air Watch.

If your organisation is looking at BYOD (bring your own device) then there are some new or enhanced features in Windows 8.1 to help you implement the flexibility of BYOD while keeping your organisations applications and data secure and controlled. Read more about all of the new or enhanced features in Windows 8.1 in this TechNet article.
