Lync 2013 Backup Service errors (4098, 4071, 4052)

Recently one of my customers after installing patches started seeing the following errors for the Lync Backup Server. We spent a good amount of time troubleshooting and research but couldn’t find anything significant. Finally we decided to just run an Invoke for the Backup service (Invoke-CsBackupServiceSync -PoolFqdn "poolA.contoso.com") and this resolved the issue and all services came to a “Steady State”.

Microsoft Lync Server 2013, Backup Service central management backup module has backup data that never gets imported by backup pool.

Backup data file: \\domain.com\Lync\ShareData\Pool01\1-BackupService-98\BackupStore\CentralMgmt\CMSMaster\Data\Backup.zip

Cause: Import issue in the backup pool. Please check event log of Microsoft Lync Server 2013, Backup Service in the backup pool for more

Resolution: Fix import issue in the backup pool

Microsoft Lync Server 2013, Backup Service user store backup module has backup data that never gets imported by backup pool.

Backup data file: \\domain.com \Lync\ShareData\Pool01\1-BackupService-98\BackupStore\UserServices\PresenceFocus\Data\Backup.zip

Cause: Import issue in the backup pool. Please check event log of Microsoft Lync Server 2013, Backup Service in the backup pool for more information.

Resolution: Fix import issue in the backup pool
