Azure Showcase: The Eye on Earth

Well, you know, fairly often when I look at showcases I am a little bit disappointed I have to admit. Mainly because the technology which is shown is really cool and I would love to leverage it – just it works in the US only. Or better, it works across the globe but the data which is available is fairly poor unless you are in the US.

This showcase is different (as long as you live in Europe :-)). The European Environment Agency just published an application called Eye on Earth . This application gives you an overview of the air quality and water quality at a given city pulling data from different sources: Automated stations as well as user feedback:

The application is built on Windows Azure and looks like that:

This is the view on Switzerland as of now.
