Richtiges Lizenzieren vom System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)

Frage eines Partners: Brauche ich für einen Distribution Point eines SCCM eine SCCM Lizenz ?

 

Hier kann man stundenlang bei einem Bier diskutieren oder man macht das einzig richtige bei all diesen Fragen: Man schaut in der PUR nach.

PUR steht für Product Use Rights und die sind quasi die Bibel für alle Lizenzfragen.

Unter https://www.microsoft.com/licensing/pur/products.aspx kann man sich für das gewünschte Produkt zielgenau die PUR anzeigen lassen oder als Word runterladen

In den PURs zum SCCM steht nun deutlich am Anfang:

“You must assign a license to a server for each instance of the management server software that you run on that server”

Gut, damit sollte die Frage beantwortet sein, warum hat die PUR aber noch mehr Seiten ?

You may run or otherwise use any number of instances of the additional software listed in the table below in physical or virtual operating system environments on any number of devices. You may use those instances only with the server software. Use of any instance with the server software may be indirect, through other additional software, or direct.

Das bedeutet, dass ich die oben stehenden Dienste – in Verbindung mit einem SCCM – auf Servern installieren kann, ohne auf diesen Geräten eine SCCM-Serverlizenz zu benötigen.

Klingt logisch, ist es auch….
