Project Server 2016 upgrade error – "The project schema has not been provisioned in Content database"


Upgrade to Project Server 2016 environment fails with below error message.

 

Migrate-SPProjectDatabase : The project schema has not been provisioned in

Content database '2013_ProjectWebApp'.

    Use the Upgrade-SPContentDatabase command to upgrade the Content database

and then retry the migration command

 1. The farm was created using PowerShell (and not using GUI), or
