Welcome to Cloud Solutions

This week, Vijay Tewari introduces the new Cloud Solution track of Building Clouds. Vijay is the Principal Group Program Manager at Microsoft responsible for private cloud solutions. You may remember Vijay from his previous role where he was responsible for overseeing System Center Virtual Machine Manager.

Welcome to the Cloud Solutions track of the Building Clouds blog! I am Vijay Tewari, Principal Group Program Manager at Microsoft writing on behalf of the private cloud solutions team. We are responsible for solutions, including Cloud Platform System (CPS) and the Private Cloud Fast Track Program.

Microsoft is committed to enabling customers to move to the cloud. We run Microsoft Azure as a cloud offering for customers wanting to leverage the public cloud. For customers who want to build and operate on-premises clouds, we are equally committed to enable them by making the insights learned from running Azure available to on-premises clouds. We know that building and operating a cloud requires all of us to think differently. We embarked on this journey with Cloud Platform System and it became clear to us that we needed not just to build the basic infrastructure blocks (Windows Server, System Center, Windows Azure Pack), but also to invest in providing solutions that simplify the process of building and operating clouds.

The Private Cloud Solutions team is working to realize this vision. The team is responsible for both solutions that Microsoft designs, like CPS, and ones that our partners design and validate through the Private Cloud Fast Track program.

We are now launching this track in the “Building Clouds” blog specifically focused on private cloud solutions. This is where you should come to get the latest information on CPS and Fast Track solutions. Since the release of CPS, we have published multiple posts, all of which are available in this track – have a look if you are interested in a deep discussion of our architecture and features. Partners who build Fast Track solutions will also be publishing information about their systems here.

We have learned a lot from the deep conversations we have had with numerous customers since the launch of CPS. A cloud is synonymous with continuous innovation and CPS was developed with that approach in mind. We have been continually adding capabilities to CPS since launch. We will be talking about CPS and these new capabilities at great length next week at Ignite.

We will be presenting five in-depth sessions at Ignite:

In addition, we will have a two-rack CPS stamp on the show floor. Last year at TechEd Europe, we learned a new term, “relfie”. It is the social media act of taking a selfie with a CPS rack. Well, come by and continue the tradition. Below are some pictures of the racks that are on their way to Chicago. We are looking forward to seeing you there.

Hope to see you in Chicago!
