Facebook Founder: Amount of personal info people share online will double every year

The New York Times quotes Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg at the Web 2.0 Summit last week:

I would expect that next year, people will share twice as much information as they share this year, and next year, they will be sharing twice as much as they did the year before," he said. "That means that people are using Facebook, and the applications and the ecosystem, more and more."

While doubling may be an exaggeration, there's no question that a lot of people are putting a lot more information about themselves on the Internet, and this trend is continuing.  Individuals will need to  balance the desire to communicate and network externally with the need for privacy.
