Setting your Lync Location based on your Geo IP

Hi All

Continue on with some previous posts around playing with Lync Client API

Here is a simple on setting your location based on the Geo IP you are at..

First we have created a function we can call easily, we query a GEO IP website and accept the XML request

If we can resolve to the City we will take the city for our location if not we will go to the Country location.

Next we publish the location with the following code

and hey presto

You can manually run this or look up event 10000 in the Microsoft Windows / NetworkProfile –> Operational Log and you can trigger everytime it gets a new network connection

anyway….. enjoy!
