OpsMgr 2007: Installation of Engyro Product Connector may fail with "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package"

fixWhen installing the Engyro Product Connector onto a secondary SCOM 2007 server, the installation may fail with the following error:

There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected.

The app event log may also show this error:

Product: Engyro OpsMgr 2007 to OVO Product Connector -- Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action checkAuth, location: C:\Program Files\Engyro\Engyro OpsMgr 2007 to OVO Product Connector\, command: "C:\Program Files\Engyro\Engyro OpsMgr 2007 to OVO Product Connector\epc" -checkAuth "HP OVO" -OMServer <serverFQDN>"

If you run the Checkauth command you may get an error similar to this:

Authorization is not valid: The SDK service was unable to read license information. This is probably due to an incorrectly restored Root Management Server. Please restore your backed up key using SecureStorageBackup.exe and restart the SDK service.

This can occur if you do not specify the RMS for the Management Server entry on the Server Information screen during setup.

To resolve this issue, follow the steps below:

  1. Start the Product Connector installation.  After you specify the License key, you will be taken to the Server Information screen.
  2. This asks for the OpsMgr 2007 Management Server and the EXD server.  In the Management Server field specify the RMS.
  3. Input the EXD server and the rest of the information on the following screens.

The installation should now be successful.
