Expanded Support for Linux Running on the IBM Mainframe

NiCE, a Germany-based Microsoft partner, recently released a management pack for Linux running on IBM System z, further expanding Linux operating system support in Microsoft System Center Operations Manager from x86/x64 hardware or hypervisors to the IBM mainframe.

This management pack stems from an open source project hosted by The Open Group, with the source code made available by Microsoft on CodePlex. NiCE was able to take this source code, compile it for the IBM System z with minimal changes, and produce an Operations Manager agent that runs on Linux for System z.  Because this agent comes from the same source code, it provides the same monitoring functionality as the Operations Manager agent for Linux on x86/x64 architectures.
