Two Days until EclipseCon!

Posted by Openness Team

In two days, Eclipse enthusiasts will descend on EclipseCon North America to learn, share, and collaborate on the latest ideas and innovations from Eclipse and its member companies.

Eclipse is a community focused on working together on commercially-friendly open source software. Its projects are focused on building an open development platform comprised of extensible frameworks, tools and runtimes for building, deploying and managing software across the lifecycle. Eclipse technology is prevalent in the enterprise, and at the same time, Eclipse continues to spur innovation and provide a platform for research and leading-edge technology.

At EclipseCon, Microsoft will be giving two sessions. One session - Cloud-Powered Apps in Minutes with Azure Mobile Services - is dedicated to how to use Eclipse to quickly build a powerful mobile app with a cloud-hosted backend. Attendees will learn how to authenticate their app users via their favorite social or enterprise identity provider, and how to deliver customized push notifications at massive scale with just a few lines of code. All of this built with open source technologies on Microsoft's Windows Azure cloud platform. All experience levels are welcome.

The second session – Eclipse for Java Developers in the cloud – Tips, Tricks and Examples – explores the latest tools for working with Java on Windows Azure, including our plugin for Eclipse, options in Windows and Linux for authentication, security, and continuous integration, an introduction to the Java Developer Center for Windows Azure and the Azure SDK for Java. Attendees should expect lots of working examples showing tips and tricks for building, deploying, connecting, and maintaining Java applications in Eclipse, including multi-tier, and multi-platform web applications that access data, servers and services in the cloud.

Be sure to stop by the Microsoft booth to learn more about how Microsoft is working with Eclipse. We’re looking forward to hearing about the latest Eclipse initiatives and hope to see you there!
