The gift-giving started early this week for developers looking to add Windows Azure Active Directory’s enterprise-level identity features to their applications and services, as MS Open Tech released alpha versions of new iOS and Android open source libraries.

Now developers can authenticate users of cloud and on-premises Android applications through Microsoft services such as Office 365 and Dynamics CRM Online, or through non-Microsoft services such as Twitter, Facebook, and Google. These libraries are alpha versions, intended for testing these scenarios and providing feedback.

“More than 6,000 applications are integrated with Windows Azure AD and that number is growing by multiple hundreds every week,” said Alex Simons, Director of Product Management, in an AD team blog post. “And a LOT of those applications are written using open source frameworks and technologies.”

For more on this news, please see the MS Open Tech or Windows Azure AD blogs. Both teams are looking forward to your contributions and feedback on the new libraries – happy coding!
