Office 2007 and SharePoint 2007 Service Pack 3 Availability

We are pleased to announce the availability of Service Pack 3 (SP3) for our 2007 family of products.

This service pack contains all the Cumulative Updates and Public Updates for Office 2007 that have shipped since SP2 for both the Office client suites and applications, and the SharePoint server applications. The Project Server updates are included along with the SharePoint updates in the Office Servers SP3 updates. SP3 also contains additional new fixes which are described here. For a list of changes for each product, please refer to their individual KBs. The KB Articles referenced below will be updated throughout the day to include the live links to the published articles.

Starting today, SP3 is available from the Download center. The Downloads Table below provides links to the new packages for SP3. If you have installed all Office Automatic Updates, you will also see SP3 available as a manual download from Microsoft Update. After a 90 day period, SP3 will be offered as an automatic update through Microsoft Update.

Our deployment guidance for 2007 servers remains consistent with the guidance we have provided in the past. Office Client deployment for SP3 will also remain consistent with prior guidance. You can read more information in our previous post here.

  1. xpclient says:

No SP3 for Business Contact Manager 2007, Office 2003 Web Components shipped with Office 2007 and Expression Web 1 and 2 which also have Office 2007 dependencies? Also, does Calendar Printing Assistant work with Outlook 2010 after SP3 is applied?

I cannot find the language with Chinese (Traditional) for download in Office 2007 SP3. Should I download the English SP3 and the SP3 language kit?

  3. xpclient says:

After installing compatibility pack SP3, Office 2007/2010 documents (DOCX, XLSX, PPTX) take a very long time (more than a minute) to open in Office 2003 applications (Word 2003, Excel 2003 and PowerPoint 2003). Also the CPU usage is very high during this time (between 50% and 100%). I am willing to send more info for troubleshooting and fixing this issue.

  4. @ xpclient: CPAO 2007 SP3 should work with Outlook 2010 (32-bit). It is not supported on 64-bit.

@ Maria Carlson: We released a fix for this issue for both Office 2010 and Office 2007 (…/2586274. Check there for the Outlook 2007 fix:…/2553028)

@Anonymous8867: You can find the Chinese update here:…/details.aspx

@OfficeUser: SP3 includes all the fixes released for Office 2007 since SP2 until August 2011 Public Update (included).

@MCFH, @Mark Heaton and @Jim Bagwell: If the version of the Office Suite installed on your system was delivered with a component updated with SP3, the system will be offered updates for it whether the component is installed or not. The detection logic used
to scan for affected systems is designed to check for updates for all components that shipped with the particular Office Suite and offer the updates to a system. Users who choose not to apply an update for a component that is not installed, but is included
in their version of the Office Suite, will not increase the security risk of that system. On the other hand, users who do choose to install the update will not have a negative impact on the security or performance of a system. We updated the LIP page with clear links. It should work now. @ Arian van der Pijl: This is correct.

  5. xpclient says:

Correction needs to be made to the name of the product: The released service pack 3 is for "Expression Web" 1.0 not "Expression Web 3". Where is SP3 for Expression Web 2.0 which also has Office dependencies?

  6. Your basic customer says:

    Congratulations on a successful release!

  7. Maria Carlson says:

Our company was just updated to Microsoft Office 2007 SP3 yesterday and all user's affected do not have Outlook Reminders working properly.  We need a fix immediately!

  8. OfficeUser says:

Does the Office 2007 SP3 include KB2509488 security update? Is there a link showing what SP3 changes/fixes/improves? Thanks.

  9. Jawad Abood says:

I need to inhence the performance of my computer sysyems, as it ssems lovely offers

  10. MCFH says:

you seem to be offering it to machines with Office 2010 on as well!

  11. Mark Heaton says:

Hi – I posted this the other day and it hasn't come through yet. WSUS is offering this update to my machine which doesn't have 2003 on it but does have 2010. Have you any ideas?

  12. Terence Angell says:

Thanks for making it so easy to do the update for geeks! But what about the rest of us dummies that only use the machines?

  13. says:

Link for Microsoft Office Language Interface Pack 2007 Service Pack 3 (SP3) on…/2526307 is not valid on Nov 03 2011.

  14. Jim Bagwell says:

What about Office 2010, it needs fine tuning.

  15. Gerald Hughes says:

Can't find the download button for Servers Pack 3

  16. Arian van der Pijl says:

No update to the 2007 Office system Administrative Template files (ADM, ADMX, ADML) and Office Customization Tool?

    (SP2 is still the latest?)

  17. SubITMan says:

Regarding losing reminders after installing Office 2007 SP3, why is the hotfix dated Aug 30, 2011?  Is the hotfix not part of SP3?  Do I need to install SP3 and the hotfix?

  18. xpclient says:

Where is SP3 for Expression Web version 2? Expression Web 2.0 also shipped with Office dependencies/Office 2007 components and no service pack hasn't been issued for it till today. Expression Web version 3 and later don't have any Office dependencies and Version 1 has received three Service packs, Version 2 absolutely no service packs forcing me to install many Office 2007 updates after version 2 is installed.
