Tech·Ed Europe Returns to Berlin, Day 3

What day is it today? Right we're on Day 3, that would make it Wednesday in Berlin!

Did I mention how much I love waking up to a good German breakfast!

So here we are 3 days into the event, the excitement over Office 2010 and the future of Microsoft products can be seen on everyone's face.

This week, we have had so many attendees at our booth. With all those attendees came a great many questions and so many attendees willing to keep in touch and share their scenarios with us. Speaking of scenarios, going over the survey entries just from the last 2 days - of which we've had well over 100 - one question stood out: "What were you looking for when deploying Office 2010" was primarily selected as "Scenarios"! That is great feedback.

TechEd in Berlin has definately been a much different experience than TechEd in New Orleans. It has been very informative to discuss deployment strategies, successes and stumbling blocks from IT Pro's on two different continents.

I've spoken with so many folks that were very supportive and positive about deploying Office 2010. Yes that was my comment yesterday as well, but this is day 3 - another selection of attendees have crossed the Office Client booth path and the compliments on the product keep coming.

To highlight some of the questions from today:

1) Where is some guidance on the Multi Language Packs, and how do we know what languages are included? Check out the article on TechNet, and within the article is a link to the Technical Diagram that will list the language details. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee942200.aspx

2) What is the POC we heard about in one session? The Proof of Concept (POC) CD that was mentioned comprises Windows 7, Office 2010, Internet Explorer 8, Application Virtualization and the Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack. This enables you to setup a test environment of deploying Windows and Office 2010. We have been handing them out during TechEd at our Office Client Booth. If you miss out on getting one in hand, the files are available on the Download site: https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=26301CD1-CC72-4DD8-819E-12EF48322743&displaylang=en

 3) Where is the Office 2010 Security Baseline RTM, I cant find it in Beta anymore? The Office 2010 security baseline is now available. If you already have the Microsoft Security Compliance Manager installed then you just select Tools | Check for baselines. Otherwise, you need to install the tool. Here is the link: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/solutionaccelerators/cc835245.aspx

Today we also handed out some free copies of Office 2010 to those that were filling out the surveys requesting information about individual deployment environments and tools used. The survey also asked if you knew about the Office Resource Kit Blog and the Office Forums. If you havent had a chance to fill out a survey, stop by our booth - we are still selecting winners throughout the remaining days.

Here is todays' video compilation of the days events and interviews with some of the attendees during TechEd Day 3. Enjoy!
