How to manually uninstall Office 2007

First, a disclaimer: it is a best practice to uninstall programs by using Add or Remove Programs  in Windows XP or Programs and Features in Windows Vista.

I've been attending the Office 2007 Deployment Workshop in Houston this week, taught by Dean Yamada, and Dean mentioned a KB article that detailed a manual uninstall for those who, for whatever reason, were not able to remove it with Add or Remove Programs or Programs and Features. He had us run through the steps--there are a lot of them!

Before resorting to the steps in the KB article, do try to uninstall the right way one more time. Also, because you'll be mucking around in the registry, be sure to back up the registry.

Ok, if you're sure you need to do this, and if you've backed up your registry, you are now ready for the article:

How to uninstall the 2007 Office system if you cannot uninstall it by using the "Add or Remove Programs feature

Use it wisely and follow all precautions.

We'll be adding more articles to pass along additional tidbits we've learned in this workshop, so stay tuned!
