Where can I get the Office 2007 Multilanguage Pack and Proofing Tools Kit (MLP/PTK)?

We get this question a lot, so thought I’d mention it here. The Multilanguage Pack (MLP) and the Proofing Tools Kit (PTK) ship together as a set of three CDs, with the Microsoft Office Multilanguage Pack 2007 on two CDs and the Office Proofing Tools Kit 2007 on the third. You can purchase the set from major retail stores that sell computer software. You can also purchase the MLP/PTK through Microsoft volume licensing programs.

What is the MLP/PTK?

The Microsoft Office Multi-Language Pack 2007 is an add-in product that can change the entire user experience of Office 2007 desktop applications by enabling each desktop to support many languages. This includes Menus/User Interface, Help, Dictionary, Thesaurus, and Spell Checker. In addition to enhancing the user experience, a user can elect to use individual aspects of the pack, such as spell checker to proof a document in a language other than the default language set on their computer.

The MLP includes all of the Single Language Packs (SLPs), along with their associated Proofing Tools, such as spell- and grammar-checker, hyphenator, and thesaurus. The PTK contains just the Proofing Tools. Note that the set of Proofing Tools available varies by language—for a complete list of what ships with each language, see Microsoft Office Language Pack 2007 feature comparison.

The MLP includes tools for the following languages:

Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese, Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Kazakh, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian Latin, Simplified Chinese, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Traditional Chinese (HK), Traditional Chinese (Taiwan), Turkish, and Ukrainian.

The language packs on the MLP CDs provide localized Menus/User Interface, Help, and document proofing tools for all the 2007 Microsoft Office desktop applications. These include Word 2007, Excel 2007, PowerPoint 2007, Access 2007, Outlook 2007, OneNote 2007, InfoPath 2007, Publisher 2007, SharePoint Designer 2007, Project 2007, Visio 2007, and Groove 2007. In addition, UIs for Microsoft Office Tools, such as Clip Organizer, Document Imaging, Document Scanning, and Picture Manager are localized when language packs are enabled.
