June Wellington SharePoint User Group

Chandima just blogged about the June Wellington SharePoint UG which is on this Wednesday.  I can't be there as I'll be in Auckland talking about Windows Server 2008, and this months SharePoint UserGroup sounds really interesting:

WSS Version 3 – Pushing the boundaries and Lessons learned (Ben Lauchlan and Mark Pascall of 3months)

Windows Sharepoint Services 3 is the core engine behind Sharepoint 2007.  It’s also part of the operating system and now supports forms based authentication.  This means that it can be the basis for very cost effective Intranet and Internet solutions potentially supporting many thousands of anonymous or authenticated users.

This presentation will briefly introduce some of the “out of the box” features of WSS and look at where its strengths and weaknesses lie.  A number of WSS V3 sites that 3months have developed will be examined (including ones that push the “look and feel” boundaries of WSS) and lessons learned discussed.

Microsoft Office SharePoint Server – Demo Implementation (Brendan Law – Intergen)

There are many different options to choose during a MOSS installation, which can confuse even the most experienced Systems Engineer and even prevent a successful deployment.  This session will run through a relatively generic MOSS implementation, demonstrating what features we typically set on the MOSS server.  Being a reasonable technically focused session, I will try to highlight any tips and tricks that we use when we implement a MOSS solution for our clients.

Date: June 27th Wednesday

Start: 6 PM

Venue: Level 1, Saatchi and Saatchi House, Cnr Courtenay Place and Taranaki Street, Wellington
