This fortnight's TechNet Flash newsletter has just been emailed out, focusing on Windows Server 2008.  If you're a NZ IT Professional you'd be mad not to subscribe to the TechNet Flash newsletter, so subscribe here or send this link to your friends www.microsoft.com/nz/technet/subscribe.aspx

Welcome to this week's TechNet Flash

The big news at the moment is that after weeks of rumoured sightings and downright guesses of the official product name for Windows Server codename "Longhorn", we can finally divulge the real name: Windows Server 2008. Be sure to download the latest beta release of the next-generation Windows Server operating system. Watch our video to see how the team came up with the name. Beta 3 is a major milestone for us, on the road to release, and this is the time to begin your evaluations. There are also many resources available to help you with evaluations, my favourites are:

. Longhorn TechCenter
. Reviewer's Guide
. Technical Overview Whitepaper
. Self-Paced E-Learning Clinics
. TechNet Virtual Labs

I really recommend the free Windows Server 2008 Virtual Labs - no complex setup or installation is required to try out Windows Server 2008. You get a downloadable manual and a 90-minute block of time for each module. You can sign up for additional 90-minute blocks anytime.

In late June, I will be running a TechNet event through Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland presenting an overview and demoing Windows Server 2008. Look out for more info in the next newsletter or on my blog.

Also just released, is Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004 Service Pack 3, which includes the latest updates with increased security, new troubleshooting tools, and improved log viewer functionality. This service pack also adds support for publishing Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 with ISA Server 2004.

If you are charged with protecting your organisation from new security threats, you may wish to sign up for the free monthly Security Notification Service to get accurate information on how to protect against malicious attacks.

And finally, registration for TechEd 2007 is still open. This year it is taking place from 13-15 August in Auckland, and it features a 3-day jam-packed agenda of the latest and greatest technical content. Tickets are already selling fast, so if you want to attend this year we recommend you secure your registration shortly.
