Window 7 Beta and Windows Live Messenger

Something that had been annoying my while I’ve been on Win7 was that messenger had an abnormal docking behavior.  You can see that it shows both my profile pic and the WLM window.

Anyway I did some digging and found out the way to solve this is run WLM in XP compatibility mode.  To do this;

  • Right click the Messenger icon on your start tab and hit properties

  • Set the compatibility mode to be WinXP

  • Hit OK and restart WLM – You’ll get an admin pop-up and no more annoying double Window.
