Exciting System Center Advisor Updates

System Center Advisor licensing has changed and now offers better integration with Operations Manager.

A few months ago, we let you know about the availability of System Center Advisor for Lync (System Center Advisor for Lync Server 2010). Today, we want to make you aware of the following two important developments.

Licensing Changes

System Center Advisor is now FREE to Microsoft customers in supporting countries! Check out Microsoft Online Services International Availability page for the complete list. Trial periods are a thing of the past and Software Assurance is no longer required for taking advantage of the Advisor service.

New Advisor Connector for Operations Manager

Are you using Operations Manager to monitor Lync? If so, we’re excited to tell you about the release of the System Center Advisor Connector for Operations Manager Preview! This connector enables Advisor to be an attached service to your Operations Manager deployment.

We are hard at work on adding Lync 2013 support to Advisor, so stay tuned for updates on that front.

About the Authors 

Michael Hefner is a Senior Escalation Engineer for Microsoft Lync Server. He has worked with Lync since the early days of Live Communications Server 2003. He can usually be found debugging complicated Lync issues but also helps with diagnostic tools, such as System Center Advisor. Previously, he worked with Exchange and networking technologies at Microsoft since 1995.

Nick Rosenfeld is a Principal Escalation Engineer for Microsoft Lync Server. His team is responsible for debugging and resolving the most complex Lync issues. Nick drives a variety of initiatives around automated diagnostics, as well as System Center Advisor for Lync. Prior to his time with Lync, Nick spent nine years as an Escalation Engineer supporting Microsoft Exchange Server.
