A new Windows Vista update resolves a potential issue with BITS

An issue was discovered last month with the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) that caused the Windows Services host process to stop working if a Windows Update package that was downloaded was corrupted.  The problem and methods to get out of the situation are discussed in the following article:

Now, an update for BITS will prevent the above problem from happening.  The update is being pushed out via Microsoft Update as an Important update.  It was applied to my Vista systems overnight last night and is described here:
