Securing productivity, collaboration, and enterprise data is critically important as organizations continue their digital transformation journeys. Almost a year ago, Satya Nadella laid out the new Microsoft approach to security, and our plans to deliver a holistic, agile, security platform for today’s enterprise.

Now, with the new Secure Productive Enterprise offering, we are bringing together Office 365, Windows 10 Enterprise, and the Enterprise Mobility + Security suite into a single licensing offering. With Secure Productive Enterprise, your customers will have the latest and most advanced technology for empowering employees.

The September 2016 topic for the Office 365 and Voice Partner Community is advanced security. We’ll go into the topic in-depth on the September 1 community call and in a series of blog posts throughout the month. Our primary focus will be on the new advanced cloud-based security technology that’s included in Office 365 as part of the Secure Productive Enterprise offering.

Introducing Office 365 Advanced Security Management

The expectations people have with regard to how they work have changed considerably over the past few years. They want to bring their own device(s) to work and they expect to have easy access to information wherever they are and from whatever device they are using. When you think about securing company data, the threat landscape has evolved. Hackers approach hacking differently, necessitating that how we think about protecting ourselves also must change. Lastly, industry regulations and standards have not just changed, they have also increased. With the rapid shift to cloud computing as the norm, customers want to understand how the regulations and standards they must comply with apply to this new world where customers don’t have computing resources on-premises.

To help organizations address these new security considerations, Microsoft now offers Office 365 Advanced Security Management. Advanced Security Management gives customers with enhanced visibility and control into their Office 365 environment in three ways:

  1. Threat detection helps you identify high-risk and abnormal usage, security incidents, and threats
  2. Enhanced control lets you leverage granular controls and security policies to help you shape the Office 365 environment
  3. Discovery and insights offers enhanced visibility and context for Office 365 usage and shadow IT, without installing an end point agent

Additionally, partners can build practices around these solutions and deliver managed services that meet the broad productivity, mobility, and security needs of the modern enterprise.
