March 2013 Security Bulletin Webcast, Q&A, and Slide Deck

Today we’re publishing the March 2013 Security Bulletin Webcast Questions & Answers page. We fielded 13 questions on various topics during the webcast, with specific bulletin questions focusing primarily on Internet Explorer (MS13-021), SharePoint (MS13-024) and the update for Kernel-Mode Drivers in MS13-027. There were six additional questions during the webcast that we were unable to answer on air, and we have also answered those on the Q&A page.

Security Updates Today we released six security bulletins to help protect our customers - four Critical, one Important, and one Moderate – addressing 19 vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows Shell, Windows Kernel, Internet Explorer, Internet Information Services (IIS), .NET Framework, and Excel. For those who need to prioritize deployment, we recommend focusing on these two Critical updates first:

Hello. Today we’re publishing the August 2012 Security Bulletin Webcast Questions & Answers page. During the webcast, we fielded twelve questions focusing primarily on MS12-060 covering Windows Common Controls, MS12-052 regarding Internet Explorer, and Security Advisory 2661254 addressing trust certificates with RSA keys less than 1024 bit key lengths. Three additional questions were answered after the webcast.

Hi everyone, Black Hat this year was really great. We spent a lot of time talking to people and getting new perspectives on the security landscape and of course, we announced the BlueHat Prize contest. The reaction to the contest was outstanding. In fact, within the first 24 hours, we had already received a few submissions and a bunch of questions indicating a lot of interest in winning the $200,000 grand prize.

Hi everyone. As part of our usual monthly update cycle, today Microsoft is releasing four security bulletins to address five vulnerabilities in Windows and Microsoft Office. MS10-042 resolves a publicly disclosed and actively exploited vulnerability discussed in Security Advisory 2219475. The update addresses an issue in the Windows Help and Support Center feature included in Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.

Hi everyone, Today, as part of our regular monthly security bulletin release cycle, we released 10 bulletins to address 34 total vulnerabilities in Windows, Microsoft Office (including SharePoint), Internet Explorer (IE), Internet Information Services (IIS), and the .NET Framework. Only three of these bulletins get our maximum severity rating of Critical.

Hi everyone, Last week Adrian Stone and I conducted a webcast to cover the Internet Explorer out-of-band security bulletin release. We only spent a short period of timing on the presentation and then spent the rest of the time answering customer questions which you can read here. There were some interesting questions and hopefully those who attended came away with a better understanding about how to better protect themselves from emerging threats.

Hi everyone, Today we released MS10-018 out-of-band due to increases in attacks against Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 7 using the vulnerability discussed in Security Advisory 981374. I want to reiterate that Internet Explorer 8 is not affected by this issue so customers using this version are not affected by these attacks and we continue to encourage customers to upgrade to the newer version because it provides more security and protection.
