Today, we revised Security Advisory 2757760 with two new pieces of information: A Fix It solution is available to address the vulnerability via an app-compat shim The comprehensive security update will be released out-of-band on Friday. In this blog post, we’d like to explain more about the vulnerability and explain how the Fix It solution addresses the issue.

Today we released MS12-060, addressing a potential remote code execution vulnerability in MSCOMCTL.OCX, the binary included with a number of Microsoft products to provide a set of common ActiveX controls. Limited, targeted attacks exploiting CVE-2012-1856 MS12-060 is on the list of high priority updates for this month for two reasons: we are aware of very limited, targeted attacks taking advantage of CVE-2012-1856 and we expect to see new attacks taking advantage of this vulnerability in days ahead.

We’ve just updated Microsoft Security Advisory 2286198 to let customers know that we now have an automated “Fix It” available to implement the workaround we first outlined in our original posting on Friday, July 16, 2010. More information is available in the KB article 2286198, but in summary running the “Fix It” can help prevent attacks attempting to exploit this vulnerability.

Hi everyone. As part of our usual monthly update cycle, today Microsoft is releasing four security bulletins to address five vulnerabilities in Windows and Microsoft Office. MS10-042 resolves a publicly disclosed and actively exploited vulnerability discussed in Security Advisory 2219475. The update addresses an issue in the Windows Help and Support Center feature included in Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.

Hi everyone, Last week Adrian Stone and I conducted a webcast to cover the Internet Explorer out-of-band security bulletin release. Hi everyone, Today we released MS10-018 out-of-band due to increases in attacks against Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 7 using the vulnerability discussed in Security Advisory 981374. I want to reiterate that Internet Explorer 8 is not affected by this issue so customers using this version are not affected by these attacks and we continue to encourage customers to upgrade to the newer version because it provides more security and protection.
