There was quite some chatter about the “missing updates” for tonight and the question about what happened to them. Well, the answer is fairly simple: Our advanced notification is the best knowledge we have about the forthcomming update-release cycle the Thursday before it actually happens. But we do not stop testing after releasing the advanced notification. Tests go on and if we find quality problems with one of our updates, we have to withdraw it. Usually there is not enough time to fix a problem and re-test an update as this takes a lot of time and we all agree that good quality on Security Updates is absolutely key.
So, there is no magic in it, this is simply what was going on this month: The updates did finally not make the quality bar even though we have been confident last Thursday.
