Zune DRM misbehaving

So Ive been furiously reinstalling all my machines to Windows 7 RTM (one of the perks of being in a Windows feature team :) ).

Today one of my machines had a nasty issue with Zune after I had my PC count reset (I have three machines I wanted to run RTM on so I had to get my three PC limit reset to allow all of them to register properly). Basically I tried to download content and it told me something was wrong with the licenses and threw out a nifty (read:cryptic) error code.

It seemed my DRM registration was a bit bad. Zune does give you a link to reset your DRM setup, however that only works with Vista and XP. Heres how to do it manually:

1. Stop Zune and WMP
2. Delete all the files underneath the Windows Media DRM folder. In Windows 7 and Vista this is located at: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DRM
3. Visit this link and “upgrade” your DRM security https://go.microsoft.com/FWLink?LinkID=34506
4. Restart Zune

It should fix it. Let me know if it works for you!
