The WAIK screencasts
Ive promised these for quite awhile now but never really got round to doing them. I wanted to show a few of the things we have been talking about on the Ready Summit tour that I did in my session as theres quite a few questions on how to actually do them.
WinPE Driver Addition
In this screencast I show how to use ImageX to mount a WIM file into your filesystem and then add in a SATA driver. We close and commit the changes. Important note that while Im using peimg.exe to add the driver into the WinPE image, if you wanted to do a similar thing with the Vista image itself (via install.wim) then you'd need to use drvload.exe or pkgmgr.exe.
Windows System Image Manager
This is the new tool that replaces all the mess you used to do with the inf files in WinXP. It spits out an XML file that you can then use on the command line with setup.exe or via Windows Deployment Services.
Windows Deployment Services Overview
I just love this tool! Ive written a few blog posts on it now. Its the new replacement to Remote Installation Services (RIS) and will be available as a hotfix or via Windows Server 2003 SP2.
