Abstract:

The session will provide a general overview of the application Virtualization technology called SoftGrid. Microsoft SoftGrid Application Virtualization is a virtualization solution that can deliver applications that are never installed locally, yet securely follow users anywhere, on demand. This is not the same as the other “grid“ computing technology offers by Microsoft like the HPC (High Performance Computing) grid computer technology. The official Microsoft branding of the technology is Microsoft Application Virtualization version 4.5 and is in beta now. The SoftGrid version 4.2 is available since July 2007. Softgrid is part of the technology base to help delivery SaaS (Software as a Service). SaaS is here now and will play an important role in the future of applications delivery.
