Windows 8.1 從 2013/10 上市，2014/04 啟動了 Windows 8.1 Update，為了提供用戶與合作夥伴更好的使用者經驗，能有更快速的修復與反應，在 Windows 8.1 Update 之後，每個月都會有 "Update Tuesday" 。而根據 Windows Blog 昨天的宣布，八月份更新已經上線。

此次 2014/08 的更新，包括 Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1 和 Windows Server 2012 R2 更新彙總套件解決問題，並包含效能和可靠性的改進。根據 August updates for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2，Windows 8.1 八月更新内容包括：觸控板改進，Miracast 接收，SharePoint Online 登入提醒的優化等等。
