Microsoft IOI hosts entrepreneurship education project

Microsoft Indian Ocean Islands recently collaborated with the Ministry of Education of Mauritius and the National Productivity and Competitiveness Council (NPCC) on the entrepreneurship education project. Microsoft proposed a Build Your Business curriculum for secondary school educators so as to implement Entrepreneurship Education at a secondary level in Mauritius. This involved the customisation of Build Your Business in a 15 hour course for lower 6. The basis of including entrepreneurship in the secondary school curriculum is so that the youth can acquire 21st century skills. The programme is available in 92 schools with more than 300 students taking part.

“The build your business program in partnership with Microsoft and the ministry of education has been an opportunity for us to do things differently and be closer to be our students, “says Educator at Belle Rose SSS, Heelana Farreedun Aullybux.

“At Microsoft we work at providing opportunities for the youth and it was natural for us to collaborate with the ministry and propose the Build Your Business curriculum, which has proved to be relevant in the educational context, says Citizenship and Education Engagement Manager at Microsoft Indian Ocean Islands and French Pacific, Caroline Koa Wing.
