Lync 2010, a year in perspective

It’s been almost a year since Lync 2010 launched, bringing the world’s first truly unified communications solution to the market.

Partners and customers are building rich, real-time communications with Lync into business applications and workflow. They are also using SharePoint, Exchange, and Office with Lync, which works great with those products right out of the box.

The number of customers that are using Lync to bridge the gap between enterprise telephony and other real-time communications is impressive. Recent enterprise voice roll-outs include:

  • 15,000 seats at Swisscom in Europe
  • 33,000 seats at Western Kentucky University in the U.S.
  • 10,000 seats at Sharp in Japan

In addition, LA Fitness also chose Lync for its 20,000 employees after assessing Avaya and Cisco. The company is now saving $650,000 per year in hard savings and reaping significant other productivity benefits.
