Office 365 for Education

The education space is changing with the growing critical need for anytime anywhere access to coursework, lecture notes and classroom sites. Students are working collaboratively more than ever from home to school and everywhere in between. Just as education is changing, so are the tools that Microsoft is offering to help universities and schools adjust to these changes.

Live@edu is the premier cloud suite for education that is used by more than 15 million students worldwide, up from 11 million three months ago. We are also announcing seven new institutions that have chosen Microsoft Online Services, representing more than 484,000 students, faculty, staff and alumni: Western Kentucky University, Beijing Open University, University of Bologna, Copenhagen Business Schools, Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, Lodge Park Technical College, and Twynham School.

At this year’s Education World Forum and BETT in London, Microsoft is continuing its commitment to education. Office 365 for education will launch this year. It will serve as Microsoft’s next generation cloud productivity service for schools and universities—and the successor to Live@edu. For the first time ever, Office 365 for education will make Lync available to students free of charge, giving students one-click access to IM, calls, e-mail and video conferencing.

Office 365 breaks down classroom walls to extend learning possibilities to every student, while giving students the opportunity to master technology that will be used in their future careers.
