As teachers around the globe work to engage their students through 21st century learning, collaborating with other educators and school leaders is one of the best ways to strengthen curriculum. Unfortunately, this kind of collaboration can be a challenge in today's busy school environments. That's why we're pleased to announce the launch of the Microsoft 21st Century Professional Learning Conversation Guide.
The Guide, presented as a OneNote notebook, is a professional learning process guide for school leaders, head teachers, professional learning coaches, and teachers to collaborate in redesigning and transforming learning.
The Tools to Redesign Professional Conversations
In discussions with Microsoft Showcase Schools globally, we've seen a number of common themes and challenges. Many of the teachers in these schools are currently using the 21st Century Learning Design Learning Activity Rubrics to focus on adaptive capabilities or 21st century skills. The Microsoft 21st Century Professional Learning Conversation Guide is intended to bridge the gap between the work of teachers as learning designers and the work of instructional leaders.
The Guide is based on an Appreciative Inquiry approach, which intentionally seeks to uncover the strengths and successes within a teacher's practice, helping to make teaching profoundly personalized — and amplified by the appropriate use of technology.
Features of the Guide include:
Semi- structured conversations built around the 21st Century Learning Design dimensions of problem solving, knowledge construction, collaboration, skilled use of ICT and communication.
The 21st Century Learning Design rubrics, ITL Research and the ITL Diagnostic tool (PILSR).
Inspiration library with examples of 'best' and 'next practice' in leveraging digital.
An organized space for leaders to created media-rich pages for conversation notes and evidence of impact.
Once a teacher saves the Microsoft 21st Century Professional Learning Conversation Guide, its OneNote design can be adapted and enhanced to suit their unique requirements. This makes it an ideal tool for a broad range of learning environments, helping teachers master the same critical 21st century skills they're teaching their students.
