In July, Microsoft kicked off a 12-month initiative to #UpgradeYourWorld as part of the launch of Windows 10 by celebrating people and organisations who do great things. We are thrilled about the engagement we have seen from millions of people sharing their stories and supporting nonprofit organisations around the world.
As part of our US$10 million investment to amplify amazing work being done around the globe, 10 partners in 10 countries received US$50,000 each. During the month of September, people voted for thousands of nonprofits to receive this monetary donation to celebrate how they #UpgradeYourWorld every day.
After calculating the final number of votes, we are excited to announce the selected winners from across Asia Pacific. Here is our list:
• Edgar’s Mission
• Bottle for Botol
• Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics (FAST Australia)
• Engineers Without Borders
• Ovarian Cancer Australia

We admire the dedication all of these nonprofit organisations have to their respective causes. From providing shelter for homeless and abused animals in Australia and innovating the way people donate money through a mobile app to fight hunger in China, to securing prenatal care and early childhood health services in India and empowering young women in Japan, the work these organisations do to #UpgradeYourWorld is truly inspiring.
Spotlight on the Malala Fund
October also marks our #UpgradeYourWorld global partnership with the Malala Fund. Throughout the month we have been supporting their global efforts to empower girls through quality secondary education, so they can continue to have a positive impact on the communities they live in.
