Federal Government to Move 120,000 Workers to Microsoft Cloud Services

Microsoft and the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced today that the department will become the first cabinet-level federal agency to move its e-mail and productivity applications to the cloud.

The USDA will migrate 120,000 federal workers from on-premises messaging and collaboration to Microsoft’s Business Productivity Online Suite-Federal cloud computing technology over the next four weeks.

The agency will deploy Microsoft’s Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and Office Communications Online for collaboration, messaging, calendaring, instant messaging, presence and audio, video and Web conferencing.
