Reasons why SMBs are adopting cloud power

We’ve just published a couple of new videos on SMB adoption of cloud power on both our Microsoft Showcase and YouTube channels. Andy Burton, CEO of Rise (a division of Fasthosts) and Chairman of the Cloud Industry Forum, explains that the prime driver for adopting cloud power is flexibility – the ability to scale up or down as required and just pay for what you need. Amongst those companies who are using cloud services, following on from the flexibility benefits comes the realisation that cost savings can also be achieved.

One of Rise’s customers, Harry Bird from Moon Computers, explains why he appreciates the ability to be able to ramp up or down as the business needs dictate.

Security and performance

The second video features Lawrence Jones, MD of UKFast, a hosting provider and specialists in managed cloud talking about data security in the cloud.

Lawrence explains that all data needs protecting – whether it’s in the cloud or on-premise, and that as a company they use firewalls and dedicated applications to act as layers of defence. The video also features customers including Jonathan Whiteside, Chief Technical Officer of Building Blocks, a UK-based digital agency and Andy Millner, Development Director at Gecko Marketing Agency, talking about how they have been able to reassure their clients on security concerns, and provide the scale-up and scale-down resources required.  Building Blocks recently carried out advanced penetration testing on a project requiring customers to submit sensitive data online, and Gecko flexes IT resources to satisfy high peak-and-trough campaigns such as those run by WeightWatchers.
