IT Pro momentum and helping Diabetes patients and families

As you can imagine from the title of this one, it is an simply amazing project.  This project was made possible by using the program to help solve a problem  To learn more keep reading and comment and let me know your thoughts.

Objectives of the project:   Record keeping, report generation, and collaboration with medical staff for people with diabetes.

Are you piloting or deploying the products: At the moment we’re still piloting because the primary focus in on a Windows Mobile client. The back-end sync server, and accompanying collaboration web site, will be completed after the WM client has been almost complete.

Products used in the project: Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008, Windows Mobile 6.0+, .NET Framework 3.5, IIS 7.

Project description: Diabetes isn’t an easy disease to manage for the very young and the very old. This product aims to allow doctors to get an overall feel for how well management has gone in a historical sense for the patient, but also serves as a way for loved ones to track those in their care when they can’t be around. It’s designed to be simple and accessible enough for the very young and the elderly but thorough enough for its results to be medically relevant. Using Windows Mobile or a web browser, the patient can enter their information so that trusted others who have been specifically allowed access will be able monitor the patient.

Did you solve the problem: Thus far, yes, though more features are being added.

What do you think about the IT Pro Momentum program?   This program is fantastic! We would probably not have done this project because, as developers, we are staunch anti-Piracy folks and it would have taken too long to implement using trial-ware. There was even a point where it had been discussed before Momentum came along and we decided it wasn’t feasible for that reason, so we’re very excited to be doing this work!
