Cool New Battery Charger for the Xbox 360 by NYKO

ChargeBase360 Hey folks I have a great new product, I am been using for about a month with my Xbox 360.  I bought the Nyko Charge Base 360.  I saw an ad in Xbox magazine for this device and it was relatively inexpensive so I decided to give it a try.  I have to tell you folks I am very impressed with this charge station.

In the past I have used primarily two solutions to charge my wireless controllers.  First, AA batteries, not a lot of longevity but hey it was came out of the box.  It does not take a CPA to understand the cost analysis vs. gamer score, I spent a lot of money on batteries.

So I tried the next best thing, Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack.  This was not a bad solution but a couple of things surprised me, I was not terribly impressed with the battery life and recharge time.  I also found out something interesting that the cables that connect to the 360 only charge the controllers but do not govern any communications.  In other words when you are charging the controller and using the controller, you are doing so wirelessly.  Also I was a little alarmed at first when I turned off my 360 I still heard the pleasant hum of my 360 as it charged the controllers.

So off I went to the store to try the NYKO charger, it was about $40 US.  I have seen it online from 29.99 to 39.99 so not a bad price.  The charger comes with two custom NiMH rechargeable batteries and allows you store and charge two Xbox 360 Wireless Controllers with the base 360.  What I really liked about the port is that it is AC powered, meaning no cables back to the 360.   I was  impressed with the charging time which was about 4 hours for both of my controllers, and I have yet to run out of charge.  I liked the LED lights that let me know when they charges were done, red charging, green charged.  Pretty cool looking.
