Less is more: Thoughts on Server Security

My teammate Shawn Travers wrote a great online article on Server Security found here:

Server Security: Less is More

The article does a nice job of looking at simplifying your servers while maintaining a secure data center.  Shawn does a nice job at looking at the complexity that large data centers run into.  He found an interesting data point for and provides some context into the nature of the article:

"as the complexity of a system doubles (defined as the number of security-critical elements), the likelihood of a catastrophic vulnerability increases by a factor of four"
