LINUX and LAMP Stack Inventory Assessment with MAP 5.0 Beta Toolkit

MAP 5.0 Beta 2 is currently available, and the beta program is under way. Traditionally, MAP performs inventory and assessment of IT environments running Microsoft platforms, and virtualization platforms including VMware technologies. With MAP 5.0, the Solution Accelerator Team has extended the heterogeneous environment discovery though the inventory and assessment of various flavors of Linux OS environments. We further augmented the Hybrid platform assessment with application discovery of LAMP stack.

In today’s complex IT environments, inventory analysis and assessment of hybrid platforms is a challenge. The MAP 5.0 Beta Toolkit helps you create an inventory of Windows Servers and various Linux flavors, including virtualized platforms in the network, complete with component and version information. The tool provides comprehensive assessment in the form of a Machine Inventory Results Report and a Hardware and Software Summary Report. This information can help you consider the value of consolidating, and virtualizing certain servers as appropriate.

In addition to the LINUX OS inventory assessment reports, the MAP Toolkit provides an application summary worksheet for the LAMP stack. This worksheet describes applications (Apache, MySQL and PHP) discovered through the inventory process and provides the instances, version details, and a count of the number of times a particular version of the software was found.
