General availability is planned for the first quarter of 2013. Starting October 19, any customer purchasing Office 2010 in retail will receive the new Office for free upon availability. @pesos: Lync Server 2010 CU7 (recently released update) will be required for the Lync Server 2010 to Lync Server 2013 migration – so no need to wait

  3. Anonymous says:

Is there going to be a migration path from OCS 2007R2 ?

  4. sime3000 says:

Where can we find a complete list of AV exclusions for Lync 2013 server?  I don't see it in TechNet.

  5. Cool!!!Congrats to to the Lync Team.

Can hardly wait to get it up in TEST to try out the new goodies (features & functions in marketing speak).

    Thanks 2013 Team!

w00t!  Will we be able to migrate from Lync 2010 to Lync 2013 once the code is available for download in November?  The Exchange team announced the troubling fact that ex2010 sp3 (required for migration to 2013) won't drop until "first half" of 2013.  Hope there is no such delay in store for Lync 2010-2013 migrations?

  8. Ben says:

Does this include "Lync Server 2013", or just the Lync 2013 client?!

  9. THG says:

Yes ". There´s a migration Path from OCS 2007 R2.  Very well documented BTW

  12. Sven says:

" Customers will see a preview version of the new Office on Windows RT devices"

But not of Lync 2013, right?

  13. Jammy says:

Wht's Build Number of Lync Server 2013 RTM ?

  14. mike says:

If a customer purchases Lync Server 2010 between now and when 2013 is generally available, will they be entitled to upgrade to 2013 without needing to purchase Software Assurance?

I just downloaded the W8 app for Lync… why is it not possible to choose an audio device in it??  It's using my laptops mic for audio calls, even though I have a Lync Certified bluetooth headset.

It also REALLY needs a back button… very irritating to have to right click and choose the "Lync" box in order to go back to the home screen.

    So far, very disappointing app.

  16. Phillip Garding [Microsoft] says:

The Lync Windows Store app (for Windows 8) is a work in progress; we are continuing to make improvements.  We are also adding to our documentation to answer some questions we are getting.  Look here to get to the FAQ and other information:…/home

We’ve gotten requests around the ability to select audio devices and we are looking into it for a future release.  At this time, the audio device needs to be configured through the Windows settings, and the audio device needs to be set as the “Default Communications Device” (both for playback and recording in the Windows OS).  We are working with the Windows team to get access to all of the controls we need to light up these features.

We have heard the feedback about the Back button.  We are actively working on adding a Back button, making it easier to search for contacts, as well as other improvements to the experience.

Thanks for using the Lync Windows Store app!

  17. Nadhir Singapore says:

Well done Lync Team! By the way , will there be an in place upgrade feature from Lync 2010 ? Or is it a totally new installation?

  18. UCman says:

Any news on GA for 2013, or was it already?  If so when was it.  Any data on early adoptions of it for large corp customers.
