Operations Manager 2012 R2 now supports SQL 2012 SP2


 

I didn’t see any announcements on this – but several customers have been asking. 

From the SQL Requirements for System Center 2012 R2, which looks like it was updated on July 9th:

    @Christian - Yes - when a given service pack is supported, we always support any available CU's for that service pack.

    Good point. ACS is oft overlooked. I believe that once we certify a version of SQL it is supported for any db role component, however I am checking with the PG to verify for sure.

    Yes - SQL 2012 SP2 is support for all SCOM 2012 R2's SQL roles, including ACS DB's

    SP3 for SQL 2012 is NOT SUPPORTED. It is being evaluated and tested - and when support is added - it will be announced.

    SQL 2012 SP2 has a known Bug "Service Pack 2 has a known bug that may cause data loss or corruption during online index rebuilds"

    what about SQL 2008 R2 SP3? I just can find "sp1 an above", but even if all versions are listed, i didn't find sp3 (or the fact that sp3 isn't supported...)

    I had a very interesting conversation with a Operations Manager support engineer who said that SCOM 2012R2 on a SQL 2008 SP1/SP2 is not supported by the tech support team as it has not been tested on that SQL version!! In his words "if you com up with
    a setup which has SCOM 2012 R2 databases hosted on a SQL version less that SQL 2012 SP2 UR4, we as the Tech Support team will not be able to work on it."

    Kevin: any idea what is going on here?

    Is there a workaround. can the downgrade be applied on the cluster
