Guidance, Tuning and Known Issues for the Exchange 2010 Management Pack for System Center Operations Manager 2007

A new KB has just been posted with some really, really good information.

This is especially important for larger environments where you might have struggled with this MP.  This KB article goes through the concepts of the correlation engine, the design challenges of the MP, some scalability issues, and some good modifications you can make to your OpsMgr environment to proactively prepare for this management pack.

The Exchange 2010 MP is not very similar to any other MP out there, so special care must be applied when leveraging this powerful management pack.

    @Karl –

    Yes – this must be created if it does not exist.

  2. I just wanted to clarify whether or not we needed the extra space at the end of "Command Timeout Seconds ". This is from the KB article and this line:

    "Command Timeout Seconds "=dword:00000384 – Updates the DW processing timeout from 5 minutes to 15 minutes.

    Sorry to be picky, but I know the registry is sensitive to spaces and I am not sure if this was a type-o or intentional.

    Hi Kevin,

    I wanted to modify HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMicrosoft Operations Manager3.0Data Warehouse as found in the article beneath the bolded text SCOM Data warehouse: (Where applicable.).

    Although I can't seem to find the Key "Data Warehouse" or the Dword value "Command Timeout Seconds".

    Is this a key that I need to create myself?

    Is a reboot necessary when applying this regkey?

    Hi Kevin,

    Is there any guidance around monitoring and reporting on mailbox sizes for Exchange 2010 mailboxes? This is inbuilt in the 2003 and 2007 Exchange MP's.

    I’m having real trouble with this.
