This is the end...beautiful friend...this is the end...My only friend...the end

It's very rare that I get to work in lyrics from a Jim Morrison song into my blog, but this is a good one. I hope that everyone reading this is aware that Windows Defender (Beta 2) expired on 12/31/2006. Users running Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 can upgrade to the release version for free, but those on Windows 2000 will be unable to do so. Mainstream support of Windows 2000 ended in July 2005, if you remember. Apparently some people are none too pleased that Windows AntiSpyware/Defender Betas no longer work on their legacy machines, but hey....we can't move forward by supporting Windows 2000, Windows 3.1, or Lan Manager. Time to upgrade!! 6+ years is plenty of time to test and rollout new machines, I think.

I spent my holidays upgrading my "non-revenue generating customers" (aka relatives and family) to the final RTW version of Windows Defender. For those of you running Windows Vista, this is all included.

If you do have machines that are running Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP, be sure to head over to the Windows Defender download site to get the release version.

Trust me....Jim would want you too.
