New Sailing Article

Man it has been extremely busy 10 days or so.  Traveling, Sailing, preping for our VP visit.

I am a member of  and write an monthly article for their newsletter.

Here is a preview of this month's article:

Grapevine Juniors went to there 13th regatta this season October 23 at Corpus Christi.

We took 4 sailors, Russ and Gabe Koh, Collin Weston, and Brittany Farr.  They all did very well in the 6 race one day regatta.  Saturday night was the year end Banquet for the TSA Junior circuit.  They gave out awards for the Corpus regatta, participation awards for the year, and over all trophies for the year. 250 kids sailed in at least one regatta, 65 of them competed in 7 or more regattas.  The circuit averaged over 75 boats per regatta.

The highlight of the evening was an hour presentation from Paul Forrester, the US Olympic Goal Medalist in 470.  He sailed as a kid at Corpus.  Now he lives in Dallas and sails out of Rush Creek on Lake Ray Hubbard.  It was very inspiring to the kids to see what years of practicing and racing can pay off.

Next year Grapevine has been awarded another TSA Junior sailing stop.  Our regatta will be May 14-15, 2005. This year this is NOT on Mother’s day, it is a week later.  Our regattas have been getting great reviews by the kids and we hope to have a larger turn out next year.

Hope you enjoy reading it.
